We Are Generation-X
We are a generation that is optimized for resilience. We don’t break. We bend. Failure is not an aberration. The system is built around it. Failure is expected. We desire success. We chase perfection, but we understand that failure is part of the process. Systems fail. Disappointment is inevitable. Life is about those special moments in between the failures. We endure. We persist. We try, and then we try again, and again, and again... We roll with the punches because there are no other practical options. You’ve got to be in the game to even have a chance at winning. Sometimes we do win. Sometimes we are triumphant. We learn to savor those moments as if they are rare, whether they are or not. Nobody wins all the time. It is okay to celebrate yourself sometimes. Life is a full contact sport. We want it all, but we learn to appreciate what we get. Sometimes victory is a matter of scale. Make your bed. Brush your teeth. Stop and smell the roses. Pause for thirty seconds to admire the sunrise. You’ve been at work for three hours already. Isn’t that beautiful? Back to work. We go panning for joy flakes in the muddy river of life. Not everything has to sparkle. The light that we see in the world doesn’t come from it. That light comes from us. We put it there. We carry it in ourselves. We built it. We collected it. We optimized it. We are still refining. Our generation won’t get old. We’ll just get better. We’re problem solvers. Some problems can’t be solved. We’ve trained ourselves to recognize the difference between the things that we can change and the things that we cannot. We try to focus our efforts on the former. Some day we will die. Until then, for better or worse, we’re busy living. We are Generation-X.

WOW. “Panning for joy flakes in the river of life.“ Did anyone ever tell you that you should be a writer?
